I note many comments to the article on Haaretz’s site treat this nonsense with the contempt it deserves.
In the present climate one wonders how long it will be before someone who should know better will repeat it. After all, was it that long ago that talk of a “Jewish Lobby” was met with derision and laughter? Now it is common currency (see today’s Guardian that refers to it in a story as if the term reflected reality as opposed to several different groups often in opposition to each other within and without).
what Qu’daffi really meant, no doubt, is that there’s no genocide being perpetrated against black Darfurians by the lighter skinned Janjaweed at the behest of the government in Khartoum, aided and abetted by China. It’s a fabrication of the Zionists to villify a noble Sharia state and distract the world from Gaza, and other crimes of the Zionist entity.
“Gaddafi suggested without presenting any evidence that the Israeli military was among those stoking the conflict:”
[...]
“We discovered that some of the main leaders of the Darfur rebels have opened offices in Tel Aviv and hold meetings with the military there to add fuel to the conflict fire.”
it’s true that one of the rebel leaders went to the Herzilya conference & met with a defense official, & announced an intention to open an office in Tel Aviv. This was covered in Ha’aretz: http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1064417.html
I see the article David posted from Ha’aretz is by Reuters. They may not have seen this earlier Ha’aretz piece.
I am astonished that anyone finds this surprising. About three years ago I saw a discussion on the Today Programme messageboards on the problems of the DR Congo where the balance of opinion, save for about three posts, blamed Israel, Mossad and “the Zionist Ridley.”

At least Gadaffi is consistent…….
“There was no war that broke out anywhere without their [the Jews/Zionists fingerprints on it”. Hamas Charter/Protocols of the Elders of Zion

it’s idiotic, of course, but I wouldn’t be surprized if the anti-Zionist left begins to see Darfur at long last as the “great problem of our time.”
Blame the Jews and you get the attention you crave.

Of course. Jews are also responsible for the common cold.

Inna, the Jews and the bicycle riders. Never forget the bicycle riders as equally culpable for all the world’s ills.

Ah yes, sorry. And the bicycle riders of course.
Were it not for the bicycle riders, we would no longer sneeze.

Sorry, er, “the Zionist Rifkind.” Easy mistake to make…
