Antisemitic graffiti in Golders Green – Kala Jerzy

Written by Kala Jerzy:

This is what happened to me on Tuesday morning. Tuesday morning, around 10 am. Cold air is hitting my face as I am rushing on North End Road to get my morning coffee in Hampstead. I have a million things to in this intermediate period after Chanukah, which finished yesterday, and New Year’s Eve which is tomorrow. As I approach Golders Hill Park I suddenly turn my head left and see a huge sign painted in pink on the bus stop on the other side of the road: ‘Jihad for Israel.’

At first I cannot really see properly what is written there – I think that I might not have seen quite well, but as pass another bus stop, on my side of the pavement this time, another pink paint draws my attention: ‘Jihad for Israel’, and right next to it: ‘Kill Jews.’

‘That is absolutely disgusting!, ‘ I think, realizing that recent events in Israel and Gaza must have had something to do with it. Sadly, a vandal who wrote those pink statements did not really comprehend the complicity of the current events in the Middle East, nor did he try to acknowledge that the Jewish people all over the world, and in London in particular, have absolutely nothing to do with the recent decisions of the Israeli government to target the Palestinian terrorists.

In the midst of my though process, I realize that I must do something about it. I call 118500 from my mobile to get a number to CST, but I it seems impossible to get through.

I fell guilty that I did not do more than that. As a matter of fact, I should have brought some paints and killed the terrible statements. I did not do that though, but rather carried on with my own routine. Nevertheless, I felt obliged to write about the horrific case of anti-Semitism that I was a witness of in between Golders Green and Hampstead on the morning of 30th of December 2008.

Unfortunately there have been several cases of this graffiti since the fighting began in Gaza, and other incidents as well.

I’m sorry you couldn’t get through to CST. I’m not sure when you were calling but we have had many incidents reported to us over the past few days. We have an emergency number which is 07659 101 668 for out of hours incidents; or you could call our office tomorrow on 0208 457 9999. If not, we can record the graffiti as an antisemitic incident from the information you have posted here.

True, most Jews have nothing to do with decisions of the Israeli government.

But even if they did even if they supported these decisions, does that mean that they should “all be killed?’

What if someone wrote “kill Muslims” because of the attacks by radical Islamicists would we not condemn such comments as racist?

Singling out a whole people for slaughter is a vile and racist act. Nothing else need be said about it.

I’ve seen “kill all Muslims” written on the tube in London – it isn’t that rare. It is of course pretty similar to what Kala saw.

If you think the Antisemitic graffiti in Golders Green was bad check this out:

Further to Robbins’s post (2:28 am) I would like to mention that I witnessed a similar event at the demonstrations in 2006 during the Lebanon War (‘We are all Hiz. now”).

I was at Grosvenor Square when the first group of demonstrators passed by. I had the temerity to shout out a question to one of the marchers. The hysterical response from some in that group of marchers was horrific and left me in fear of personal injury. One man (English accent, didn’t look Middle Eastern) screamed at me ‘we will burn you all, like in Europe’.

The police were down near Oxford Street so I decided to make my exit.

It struck me at the time that perhaps the BNP had infiltrated the pro-Hizbollah marches.

Repeating my mini-screed of a comment on the Mumbai attacks made a certain pinhead:

If I’m mad and Mary and then hit Nancy and THEN openly cite my defense as me acting out in outrage over the injustices caused by the evil Mary, and Nancy just happened to be in my swinging range (Oh, and did I mention that Mary can clean the clock of any Navy Seal, SAS Commando or office secretary who crosses her?), I’d never in a million years be able to pass myself off as an Anti-Maryist, an Anti-Maryite or even a Maryphobe no matter how justified my case is against Mary. I’d rightfully be seen as a misogynist and treated accordingly. Case closed.

Same goes here. People insisting that antizionism isn’t antisemitism BUT antisemintism *anywhere* is just antizionism so get over it, just shows how enabling society is when it comes to accepting and mainstreaming antisemitism. Anti muslim violence is often correctly condemned. Anti-Jewish acts are, in contrast, are responded to with thoughtful chin stroking over the Israeli/Palestinian Conflict.

If this is the case then maybe women should start distancing themselves Mary (even demonizing her) so they can insure that they will the last ladies on earth to have their nose moved to the other side of their face in the name of social justice against the insidious Mary Lobby.

The back of yesterday’s Guardian carried a whole page advert by a coalition of muslim groups telling Gordon Brown to be much tougher on Israel and advertised a demonstration at Trafalgar Square when we can anticipate many thousands of angry young muslims “venting their spleen”.
This sounds like a re-run of the demos at the time of Lebanon War II, which eventually led to some demonstrators appearing in court charged under public order offences.

I am a Catholic living in East London and have been vociferous over the years about the rise of Islamic extremism in our area. Tower Hamlets has been a fertile oasis for such Nazis and as far back as 1995 placards adorned Sainsburys gates proclaiming ‘Peace with Israel in a crime against Islam’

The East London Mosque always portrays itself as the moderate face of Islam but the day after 7/7 it still had the advert for it’s upcoming meeting for ‘Heroes of Islam’ Advertised by a placard of a warrior on a steed waving a sword.

The same establishment has been used by extremists such as Omar Bakri Muhammad, in the Channel four, 1997,documentary ‘The Veil’ The Islamic Nazi was filmed in the Mosque brainwashing young vulnerable girls.

Our odious MP, George Galloway, used the facilities for his election celebration where he thanked the Muslim brothers for shedding blood for him. Strange when in fact his followers attacked Jews at a memorial event at Hughes Mansions in Vallance Road, the blood spilt was from Jews.

Tower Hamlets has given succour to the Islamic extremists for years and, in my honest opinion, funding it to the hilt. The London Arena was used a few years back by, nazi entity, Hizb ut Tahrir. The oration that day was like listening to Hitler on acid. The vitriolic anti Semitic bile was omnipresent.

What you seen in Golders Green is nothing to what will occur if people don’t open their eyes to what is out there. Today the anti semitism is due to Gaza, what was it in November, what will it be next November. This is just a band wagon for the Islamic extremists to jump upon and by god they know how to show how oppressed they are.

Why have the racist anti Semitic attacks in London not hit the BBC or ITV headlines in the same manner as the publicity given to left wing fascists, Galloway and Benn pouring out their fables and fantasies.

My sympathy to all of you who find yourself under threat but please do not sit back thinking the threat is not real, it’s very real and it’s almost tangible in Tower Hamlets.

    All the best

    You will never walk alone
