TUC Aid Appeal – Give for Gaza

All proceeds from the appeal will be forwarded through the Palestine General Federation of Trade Unions (PGFTU) and the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) to support emergency humanitarian relief operations carried out by them in Gaza. All trade union relief operations are co-ordinated through Red Crescent in Jordan, Egypt and Gaza and focused on the identified needs of the people affected by the events. The first ITF-PGFTU humanitarian flight is due to leave for Gaza on 08 Jan 2009. The TUC supports an immediate ceasefire by both sides, and the pursuit of a political solution to the problems of the Middle East based on two states.

Is some of this aid also being given to Israelis affected by Hamas bombings? If it is, then I’ll be happy to contribute.

I agree:having recently received details in a recent TUC newsletter,I immediately felt misgivings about the lack of any mention of Israelis on the receiving end of the Hamas barrage.
As a rule I support most of the TUC’s invaluable work, but this smacks of one-sidedness.

Anyone know how to find out? The statement ‘co-ordinated through Red Crescent in Jordan, Egypt and Gaza ‘ suggests not. But ‘on the identified needs of the people affected by the events’ suggests that Israelis would be included.
I’d hate to think that the TUC is denying that Israelis killed, injured, or with houses destroyed deserve help.
