Muslim Council of Britain boycotts British Holocaust Memorial events in order to protest at Israel’s offensive against Hamas

But if Israel in 2009 is doing things of which we disapprove, why does that mean that we shouldn’t remember the Holocaust, which happened before Israel existed?

One Response to “Muslim Council of Britain boycotts British Holocaust Memorial events in order to protest at Israel’s offensive against Hamas”

  1. Brian Goldfarb Says:

I have attended two Holocaust Memorial Day events this year: that at the Imperial War Museum (just this evening) where Prof Richard Evans (the expert witness for Deborah Lipstadt against David Irving) spoke, and the Holocaust Educational Trust’s event last week, at which, inter alia, a Muslim women (as I gathered from her mode of dress) student spoke.

We clearly need to keep distinguishing between those who only wished that they actually _did_ represent their communities and those who appear to speak ostensibly in their own right but actually (without claiming to) speak for the majority of their community.
