“With all due respect to Goldman Sachs, it’s actually run by a complex network of bastards. Or do Goldman Sachs pay me to say that? You’ll never know.”

the comments on the Atlantic wire piece are unbelievable.

  2. Alternative News Says:

So are we not allowed to criticize Goldman Sachs anymore? That’s anti-Semitic too now?

Why don’t bank ratings ever enter the discussion? I mean that in all seriousness. Goldman Sachs is (relative to the other multinationals) a “small” but pretty sound financial institution (it gets 5 stars compared to say Bank of America which has been in the news here a lot and which gets 3-4 stars–and B of A is bigger.) And bank ratings are quite public. I used them (http://www.bankrate.com/rates/safe-sound/bank-ratings-search.aspx ) when the whole bank meltdown started to help me decide whether we should stay with our financial institution or not. (We switched.) But somehow the discussion around Goldman Sachs gets so heated that things like: so is it well-managed, stable, a place you want to do business (not fall in love with; do business) with ever comes up. But when we discuss Bank of America its stability (or relative lack thereof) is usually a part of the conversation. That strikes me… I don’t know.. but it makes me uncomfortable.

Not so obtuse, just looking at the front page.
