Why no self-respecting organisation should host Gilad Atzmon

A post on the CST Blog which explains why we should take him more seriously than most of the extremists we routinely come up against.

One Response to “Why no self-respecting organisation should host Gilad Atzmon”

  1. Absolute Observer Says:

“Organisers of Raise Your Banners said that they had previously reconsidered the invitation to Atzmon following requests from Jewish Socialist Group members and some supporters of the festival. RYB secretary Sam Jackson said at the time that “we have discussed the matter with the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and are satisfied that PSC have no boycott of Gilad Atzmon or events that he is involved in.”

I find this comment rather strange.
Is it saying the it is the PSC who decide what is and is not antisemitic (the assumption being that the PSC will boycott antisemites). Or, are they saying that since PSC is not boycotting an Israeli, then it is ok to invite him?

Can anyone clarify what this means?

If it is the former, then, following PSC’s recent statement condemning all forms of racism and antisemitism, why have PSC not called for Atzmon to be withdrawn from this event (and, in not doing so, left JSG out to dry)? And, if it is the latter, why has the PSC not issued a call for boycott (as they do when other Israelis appear)?
